17th International Conference on Magnetic Fluids
The 17th International Conference on Magnetic Fluids (ICMF17) will be held in Vienna, Austria, from 5 to 10 July 2026. The first ICMF took place in 1977 in Udine, Italy, and has since been held every three years in locations around the world. Recent editions include: ICMF12 (2010, Japan), ICMF13 (2013, India), ICMF14 (2016, Russia), ICMF15 (2019, France), and ICMF16 (2023, Spain), for more information, visit ICMF website.
For ICMF17, our aim is to broaden the scope of the conference by building a bridge between the macroscopic properties of industrially relevant systems and the fine design of nanoparticles. We seek to connect classical magnetohydrodynamics with micro- and nano-magnetism, placing particular emphasis on biocompatibility and sustainability.
While the core subject of the conference remains magnetic fluids, special attention will be given to recent advances in magnetic nanoparticle synthesis—including the tuning of shape, composition, size, and magnetic anisotropy—as well as the development of new magneto-elastic and magneto-composite materials, and the complex self-organisation of passive and active magnetically controllable systems. Applications in both medical and technological fields will also be highlighted. To this end, we have designed a balanced programme in which experimental techniques, simulation approaches, theoretical methods, and applications are equally represented.
